Teacher Week '13 - Meet the Teacher

Hey everyone!  I am posting from stormy Wisconsin to bring you my first installment of....

I am so excited to be a part of this week long linky party from Blog Hoppin'!  Each day there is a new theme and I am pretty sure I am down for all of them (except classroom tour -- I am not near my classroom and it isn't picture pretty yet -- but it will be soon!)

So today's topic is Meet the Teacher.  Since I am the new kid in the blogger world, there isn't much that is known about me already.  I thought I would expand on myself and my teaching goals for this year.

That is about it!  So, yes it is storming, but I randomly woke up at 1:30 in the morning (now it is almost 2:30), so everyone is sleeping...and I hate storms!  I will have to calm myself down enough to get back to sleep :(  At least it isn't storming during the day, right?  This family vacation has been a blast:  this place is beautiful and we did so much on our first day already! I can't wait for day two!

I will be linking up on Wednesday, but here is the schedule for Teacher Week '13!

I will try to get in my classroom when we get back and take some pics of my organization ideas in my classroom (I love, love organization!).

My question to you (because I want to meet my teacher followers!): What grade level do you teach and have you always taught it?

  1. Welcome to the bloggy world! I'm newish too! I teach 5th grade (although in New Zealand where I am we call it year 6.) I've taught from year 4 (grade 3) through to year 8 (grade 7). I've also subbed in classes from k-12.
I'm your newest follower! I can't wait to see your class pictures :)

    1. Wow! New Zealand!?! Very cool -- I subbed pre-k to 12th, too. It was crazy: I went to school to be a middle school teacher and those were the kids I dreaded subbing for. I loved elementary and high school wasn't bad either! I'm headed over to your blog now!

  2. I loved getting to know a bit more about you! I am a kindergarten teacher, and, other than student teaching placements, it IS all I have taught! I love it, though! I am also a newer blogger, and recently was nominated for a Liebster Award, and wanted to give one to you, as well! So, happy Liebster! Please visit my link to see what you "need" to do to accept the award. I look forward to learning more about you throughout this year--I have only my second (gasp!) bilingual student ever this year, so I might give you a holler if I need some advice!

    1. Thank you Becca for the award!! It is my first one! I subbed for two years and of course did my student teaching, but second grade is the only grade I have had my own classroom in. It is such a great grade! Please, if you have any questions about your bilingual kiddos, let me know, I would love to help! Thanks again!

  3. I did my bachelors and student taught in Oklahoma, but now life has taken me to France, where I am working on a masters in English Education (as a second language). Starting this September, I will be a part time (2 classes) English teacher at the middle school level. I am so nervous to have my first class all to myself;!!

If I can find such a thing if/when I get back to the US, I would love to teach in a French bilingual elementary classroom!! :)

Thanks for sharing, I love your blog!

    1. Thanks so much! I would love to know how to speak French. I took two years of German in college, too -- but since I don't use it, I don't know much of it anymore. I think it would be so cool to have a French bilingual program -- you might luck out finding a French dual language program. I know there are Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and German ones in the US, there has to be French, too!

  4. I think you are going to love most things Common Core. My district jumped right into it two years ago, and we haven't looked back! I love your part about time management. This is something that I need to try really hard to improve on this year as well!

I hope you have a fabulous school year!

    1. I wish we were more prepared in our district for Common Core, I feel like it has been more teacher directed than anything. As in if we want to learn about it, we have been the ones going out and searching the information. I really want to just dive into it this year! Thanks for stopping by -- best wishes for an awesome school year!
